The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) seeks an experienced, energetic, and dependable self-starter to join ARC’s Re-Entry Programs for Transitional Aged Youth. This project provides in-reach services and continuum of care in Central Juvenile Hall to Transition Age Youth (TAY, 18-26) to include one-on-one support, wraparound services, and an extended support network of 2,000+ formerly incarcerated individuals, to prepare them for successful reentry into their community and reduce recidivism post-incarceration. The ideal candidate will be experienced as a trauma informed mentor, with lived experiences, and formerly incarcerated. He or she will be non-judgmental, supportive, and experienced as a facilitator.
Transitional Aged Youth Mentors will be responsible for mentoring youth, completing reports, data entry, facilitating groups, and supporting the Director of Inside Programs.
Transitional Aged Youth Mentors will support and mentor youth in Central Juvenile Hall. He or she will work with youth to gathering, access, and navigate re-entry resources; create re-entry plans, and transition back into their community. Mentors will play a critical role in the organization, bringing hope and opportunity to the youth, and preparing them for their continued relationship with ARC upon release.
- Provide mentorship to the youth
- Provide one-on-one support
- Assist the youth with developing re-entry plans.
- Introduce the youth to rehabilitative and reentry services.
- Help the youth access and navigate resources
- Support the youth in their transition back to their community
- At the request of the probation, speak at staff trainings and participate in management meetings to assist, as needed, in improving the culture of juvenile hall.
- Provide and maintain appropriate data and files of participants.
- Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect of cultural differences.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Driver’s License, personal vehicle.
- Knowledge of Los Angeles Probation rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Data Base management experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Bilingual beneficial.
- Willingness to travel weekly and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Pay rate is $31.25 per hour.
