POSITION SUMMARY 

ARC is looking for an experienced Life Coach (case manager) in our 22-bed transitional housing program in Koreatown.   This a program that works with both emerging adults, 18-25 as well as men returning home from long term sentences.  The Life Coach’s focus will be providing direct supervision and case management services to the emerging adult clients enrolled in our transitional housing program. The Life Coach will teach a curriculum of life skills that teaches social, self-help, independent living, and academic skills. While the focus will be on emerging adults, there will be caseload cross-over with older members in program. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Provide individualized case management, advocacy, and referral services to emerging adults (18-25 years old).  
  • Support individuals in developing foundational independent living skills, securing full time employment, building savings, and transitioning to permanent housing. 
  • Assist individuals in identifying barriers to independent living and ways in which they may overcome them. 
  • Provide support to participants in accessing mainstream benefits.  
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with all regulatory and internal policies in multiple databases. 
  • Complete Individualized Service Plans for all assigned members. 
  • Engage clients in individual case management sessions on a weekly basis to discuss progress/regression of service plan goals, identify ongoing service needs, and provide linkage to resources as needed. 
  • Provide referrals for group and/or individual mental health counseling; educational, vocational, and/or employment preparation and placement services; and a variety of social and recreational activities. 
  • Ensure all newly arriving housing members participate in a comprehensive needs assessment within 24 hours of program entry. 
  • Facilitate groups, including cooking, basic computer skills, employment preparation, budgeting skills, activities of daily living and others which are relevant to the development of independent living skills. 
  • Participate in continuing education trainings and community-based provider meetings as assigned. 
  • Develop resources through outreach and collaboration with community providers 
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure adherence to safety and security measures. 
  • Transport clients to appointments, events, and activities as needed, using company vehicle. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Housing Director and Program Coordinator. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

The Life Coach must have either an Associate Degree (or greater) in a related field or must be enrolled in college working toward a degree. This person must also be well versed in the obstacles and barriers facing system impacted individuals in the employment and educational arenas.  Lived experience is considered an asset. 

 The Life Coach will have the following experience and attributes: 

  • Flexible and self-starter; ability to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented. 
  • Able to adapt to a trauma informed environment to supportive of members and staff. 
  • Excellent people skills, with experience in collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team environment. 
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to ARC’s mission. 
  • Strong and effective problem-solving skills.

SALARY/BENEFITS 

  • Salary range Pay rate $24.00-$26.00 doe. 
  • Multiple employer medical/dental/vision plans with up to 100% employee coverage, 50% for dependents.  
  • Employer funded life insurance. 
  • 10 paid vacation days, 6 paid sick days.
