Career Readiness & Credential Programs

Career Preperation & Credential Programs

All our members complete the ARC Big 3 during the orientation process: Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, and Career Readiness.

Economic equity, mobility, and fair employment practice is at the heart of what we do and our members are paid for these career training workshops. These workshops, lasting 1–2 weeks, prepare our members for their reentry journey by addressing workforce needs. Each workshop uses scaffolded learning strategies to impart hard and soft skills, culminating in the final Career Readiness workshop and job fair.

Recognizing the diverse needs of our member population, our Adult and Transitional Aged Youth engage in tailored programming that meet their dynamic needs.

Second Chance Advantage

Professional studies have consistently exposed the benefits of second chance hiring to businesses, organizations, community and the economy.

+
Retention Advantage:

Second chance hires consistently maintain employment longer than the average employee. A case by John Hopkins studied the retention of employees with criminal records over 5 years. At the end of 5 years, the study revealed an 8% turnover rate of 79 employees at the start of the study significantly higher than the 39% average. Similarly other organizational case studies have reported 75% - 80% retention rates for second chance hires.

Partnerships & Internships

ARC collaborates with a broad network of partners including Fortune 500 companies, film and television studios, labor unions, and small businesses to create meaningful internship and employment opportunities for justice-impacted individuals.

Our partners benefit from stronger teams, fresh perspectives, and the chance to drive real community impact through inclusive hiring practices.

Through this opportunity, 4 ARC members have been offered full time employment with NBCU.

Loyalty & Performance Benefits:

These same studies determined that second chance hires exhibit more associated loyalty for their employers. Employees report an increased sense of purpose in their roles and perform at the same or elevated levels than the average professional. The stability provided through employment and belonging drastically reduce recidivism and bolsters motivation for high performance among the second chance population – the result, higher-retention and improved business outcomes.

The Value of Improved Culture

At the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, 80% + of our team are system impacted and/or previously incarcerated. Our practices have resulted in a judgement free workforce, enhancing collaboration, and improving syngetic workflows. As an organization we have observed the same benefits demonstrated in studies, in addition our organizational culture benefits from our Second Chance Hiring Practices. Our organization is defined by a palpable sense of purpose and belonging, and as a result, our teams execute creative solutions to everyday work by leveraging the persectives of professionals from expansively diverse walks of life.

Economic and Community Improvement

Second Chance Practices improve our communities by reducing poverty, increasing local economic spending in businesses, and providing more community stability. These practices also expand the local talent pool, reduce the economic burden on public systems, and empower individuals to become consistent contributors to their communities. As more individuals secure employment, neighborhoods experience lower crime rates, stronger family structures, and long-term generational impact through increased access to housing, education, and upward mobility.
