Position Summary
The Associate Director of Clinical Services will report to and work with the Program Director to help manage ARC’s Programs, Member Services Department, and Clinical services. The successful candidate will have: a strong sense of teamwork with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to prioritize; ability to practice flexibility and good judgment; ability to hold confidential information with integrity; ambition to develop new skills, be highly organized and detail oriented. The AD must role model leadership, must display patience and empathy, and must create an environment where both our staff and members can thrive.
The Associate Director of Clinical Services is responsible for supervising the LA-based and Sacramento Clinicians, including weekly individual and group supervision. The Clinical AD will also be responsible for supervising and mentoring Graduate Level Social Work (MSW) students in the Los Angeles office, assisting the Members Services Director in supervising therapists throughout the organization, and managing ARC’s therapeutic groups, including curriculum development. The AD will support ARC’s data analyst in evaluating ARC programs and will oversee and report on grants that support clinical programming and services. The Clinical AD will work closely with the Member Services AD to ensure that members receive therapeutic services and case management support and there is effective, open communication amongst the team.
Essential Position Functions- Develop, manage, and help to coordinate and ensure high therapeutic quality of all weekly ARC groups.
- Create new and innovative groups and curricula for ARC support groups.
- Oversee and support with facilitation of ARC social-emotional groups.
- Support with creating and adhering to budgets for new programs/projects.
- Participate in brainstorming the viability of new opportunities and general expansion support/input.
- Support ARC’s internal data analyst with ARC program evaluation, including data collection and analysis.
- Help to develop/mentor formerly incarcerated staff members for leadership positions at ARC.
- Supervise MSW students.
- Supervise day-to-day operations of assigned departments.
- Support ARC’s external reporting for various funded projects
- All other requests as assigned by Members Services Director, Deputy or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree required
- At least four consecutive years of non-profit management experience; or
- Seven years clinical experience with currently or formerly incarcerated individuals, including managing budgets, contracts, and supervising clinical students
- Must be fully licensed (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) for at least two years
- Experience working in the juvenile or criminal justice fields.
- Management experience: supervising staff, managing contracts and budgets, developing and writing reports, etc.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Can work effectively in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Skill Sets: Highly motivated and able to multi-task. Team spirit with trust in coworkers and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Experience with case management or treatment focused database preferred. Excellent written/verbal communication skills mandatory with the ability to work on a team.

Creatives Intern
ARC is looking for an experienced, creative individual who is a self-starter and has a passion for bringing innovative arts programming to ARC and showcasing members’ talents. The ARC Creatives Intern will work within various Departments, including the Clinical & Wellness Department, Member Services, Communications, and Development to complete projects related to creative content and programs, website design, community outreach for arts programming, and the development and growth of arts programs at ARC. The Intern will be directly supervised by the Communications Director and will also be working with the ARC Creatives & Wellness Consultant. This part time internship is based out of ARC’s Los Angeles office and is paid.
- Assist the Creatives team with outreach, program implementation, and quality of ARC’s arts programming.
- Create internal social media posts, emails, and community outreach to members to engage in our arts programming.
- Attend weekly Creatives team check-ins.
- Assist in development of the ARC Creatives website, including content, design, and general/administrative support.
- Participate and support in the facilitation of ARC Creatives groups and workshops, including those in visual arts, creative writing, music, photography, and theatre; prioritizing the areas in which the intern is most interested.
- Develop and promote ARC Creatives events and provide content to the Communications Department.
- Facilitate/Lead a Creatives project from start to finish with a team of members. This includes a project outline, goals, task assignment, and outcomes (eg: podcast episode, short film, art exhibit, etc). This project will engage both members of the ARC community and outside community-based organizations.
- This intern will have the opportunity to continue our work in the arts by leading a project such as those described above during their time at ARC. Long-term projects & creative content and design

- Document creatives events and provide content to the Communications department.
- Facilitate/Lead a creatives project from start to finish with a team of members. This includes a project outline, goals, task assignment, and outcomes (eg: podcast episode, short film, art exhibit, performance, etc).
- Connect with and engage community partners to host/co-host Creatives programs.
- Support and collaborate with current Creatives group/workshop facilitators.
- Collaborate with the Workforce and Education team to identify and develop unique workforce and arts education opportunities to address disparities of equity and access to arts careers.
- Currently enrolled in college (community, four-year, part time or full time).
- Excellent writing skills, verbal and written communication, and organization.
- Documented ability to organize, plan and follow through with deliverables.
- Proficient with Outlook, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite.

Salary/Benefits
- Hourly rate is $16.90.

POSITION SUMMARY
ARC is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to serve as its Director of Communications. The purpose of this position is to lead ARC’s external communications operation in every way. The Communications Director leads top-line strategy, oversees execution and approval of owned digital properties, and serves as chief spokesperson for ARC. The Communications Director manages ARC’s growing communications team, which includes three full-time staff, two interns, and one fellow. The Communications Director serves as primary thought partner on external communications undertaken by the Executive Director and other key principals. This position reports to the Deputy Director and is based out of the Los Angeles headquarters. This position is not limited henceforth to the duties described below, which are subject to change.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Generate and lead strategy for all external communications, including planning year to year.
- Serve as lead spokesperson and conduit to ARC principals for members of press/news media.
- Collaborates with partners and has extensive knowledge of community resources with a strong emphasis on producing content, events/campaigns, and social media related content.
- Coordinate and shepherd earned media (print, TV, radio, digital) stories to publication.
- Oversee approvals and strategy of daily digital content to ARC social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Medium).
- Produce written/video/photo content that showcases the unique stories of ARC initiatives and ARC members. This includes ideating and generating campaigns/packages to broadcast the multi-faceted stories of ARC members, incarcerated community members, and our advocacy campaigns.
- Lead production and distribution of original ARC creative content, including existing and new online shows/programs and podcasts.
- Direct ARC’s email marketing efforts, which includes A/B testing and preparing reports on results
- Oversee short video content for social media and other external communications functions, which includes branding videos for specific programs. Lead the merchandise operation at ARC, including Shopify interface.
- Manage ARC website maintenance and posting, including ideation, planning, and regular story ideas for website.
- Manage ARC Creatives program in the form of ideation, participation, and project management.
- Lead production of ARC Inside Newsletter, which goes to over 6,000 currently incarcerated people tri-annually, and yearly postcard campaign “Mailing Hope Inside,” which sends handwritten holiday messages to incarcerated community members.
- Serve as chief caretaker of ARC brand identity, including providing creative care to logo, mission statement, tagline, and other elements of brand identity.
- Lead strategy in times necessitating crisis communications, responding to breaking news or unfavorable outcomes for ARC.
- Managing external partnerships with brands, companies, agencies that can benefit ARC mission.
- Prepare and steer Executive Director for media appearances, public speaking engagements, and keynotes at events.
- Prepare and maintain print and digital collateral, which includes program one-pagers, impact reports, and other materials.
- Write and submit quarterly report to Board of Directors, covering all communications areas.
- Plan or co-plan special events related to 10th Anniversary campaign.
- Write/synthesize/edit statements and talking points for policy positions.
- Prepare reports related to social and earned media successes and numbers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in the Communications/Marketing field.
- 3 years of managing team of people, preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (communications, English, marketing).
- Excellent writing and copyediting skills, in both digital and print contexts.
- Expertise with communications tools that include: Google Suite, Asana, Slack, Mailchimp
The Communications Director will have the following experience and attributes:
- Demonstrated passion for creative arts and developing innovative methods of storytelling, emphasis in Criminal/Social Justice, preferred. Lived experience is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Grant Writer to join its Los Angeles team. This position will compose grant reports and applications to current and potential funders, support management of ARC’s grants and contracts, and help cultivate relationships with new funding prospects to support the fundraising goals of the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent writing, research, and analytical skills and at least three years’ experience composing and securing foundation, corporate, and government grants. Candidates with experience managing city and state funding contracts are especially encouraged to apply.
The Grant Writer will report directly to ARC’s Development Director. This position will also work closely with ARC’s program staff and accountants to develop a comprehensive understanding of ARC’s programs and services, program budgets and spending, and organizational funding needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and draft clear, compelling concept papers, LOIs, and proposals outlining ARC’s programs and services to secure funding from foundation, corporate, and government sources.
- Support management of current grants.
- Develop and maintain accurate information and schedules on reporting deadlines and other grant requirements.
- Ensure compliance for city, state, and county contracts, including invoicing, auditing, and outcomes reporting.
- Research new potential funding sources and work with ARC’s Development Director to identify public and private funding opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY
ARC is looking for an experienced Life Coach (case manager) in our 22-bed transitional housing program in Koreatown. This a program that works with both emerging adults, 18-25 as well as men returning home from long term sentences. The Life Coach’s focus will be providing direct supervision and case management services to the emerging adult clients enrolled in our transitional housing program. The Life Coach will teach a curriculum of life skills that teaches social, self-help, independent living, and academic skills. While the focus will be on emerging adults, there will be caseload cross-over with older members in program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide individualized case management, advocacy, and referral services to emerging adults (18-25 years old).
- Support individuals in developing foundational independent living skills, securing full time employment, building savings, and transitioning to permanent housing.
- Assist individuals in identifying barriers to independent living and ways in which they may overcome them.
- Provide support to participants in accessing mainstream benefits.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with all regulatory and internal policies in multiple databases.
- Complete Individualized Service Plans for all assigned members.
- Engage clients in individual case management sessions on a weekly basis to discuss progress/regression of service plan goals, identify ongoing service needs, and provide linkage to resources as needed.
- Provide referrals for group and/or individual mental health counseling; educational, vocational, and/or employment preparation and placement services; and a variety of social and recreational activities.
- Ensure all newly arriving housing members participate in a comprehensive needs assessment within 24 hours of program entry.
- Facilitate groups, including cooking, basic computer skills, employment preparation, budgeting skills, activities of daily living and others which are relevant to the development of independent living skills.
- Participate in continuing education trainings and community-based provider meetings as assigned.

The Life Coach must have either an Associate Degree (or greater) in a related field or must be enrolled in college working toward a degree. This person must also be well versed in the obstacles and barriers facing system impacted individuals in the employment and educational arenas. Lived experience is considered an asset.

POSITION SUMMARY
ARC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Emerging Adult Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Overnight Advisor to join it’s Magnolia Housing Facility in Koreatown, a 22-bed re-entry program for formerly incarcerated Transitional Age Young men. This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to justice reform and supporting young people to work at a unique program for formerly incarcerated youth. This position will support program participants and monitor the physical plant of the program throughout the evening hours, including holidays and weekends. This position will report directly to the Program Coordinator and works closely with all housing staff onsite. This position will serve as a role model to the members and maintain the highest level of accountability for the members and staff. The Overnight Advisor will proactively communicate to other program staff on an ongoing basis any programmatic or structural situations that may arise during the advisor’s work hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform regular inspection of units and common areas to ensure that all program guidelines are being properly adhered to, including the implementation of quiet hours, asking members to clear all communal spaces if necessary.
- Maintain program curfew log per site specific curfew protocols. Document and report all violations.
- Help ensure resident and staff safety by conducting safety inspections throughout the housing facility, including, the laundry and gym area, making sure that all doors are securely locked throughout the night per safety protocols.
- Communicate violations of guidelines in a timely manner; drug use, altercations, and/or anything that jeopardizes participant or staff safety.
- Maintain facility checklist and track needed repairs by performing scheduled inspections.
- Assist members with immediate needs; grocery shopping, distributing hygiene, toilet paper, etc.
- Remain available to support member needs whenever possible
- Maintain inventory of pantry, cleaning supplies, household supplies and hygiene supplies. Provide list of needed supplies to program coordinator in a timely manner.
- Light repair/maintenance/groundskeeping work onsite. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning, throwing out trash nightly, ensuring kitchen area is free of dirty dishes and clean countertops, restocking all restroom/kitchen paper supplies as needed.- Support members with transportation as needed.
- Support Life Coaches and Program Coordinator in developing and implementing a supportive mentorship program.
- Help ensure participant well-being by overseeing drug testing and connecting members with appropriate rehabilitative services.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have experience with a criminal justice population, observes healthy boundaries and a willingness to work in an environment that seeks to support youth through a positive youth development approach rather than just punitive responses to participant struggles.
The Overnight Advisor will have the following experience and attributes:
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.

This project provides in-reach services and continuum of care in Central Juvenile Hall to Transition Age Youth (TAY, 18-26) to include one-on-one support, wraparound services, and an extended support network of 2,000+ formerly incarcerated individuals, to prepare them for successful reentry into their community and reduce recidivism post-incarceration. The ideal candidate will be experienced as a trauma informed mentor, with lived experiences, and formerly incarcerated. He or she will be non-judgmental, supportive, and experienced as a facilitator.
Transitional Aged Youth Mentors will be responsible for mentoring youth, completing reports, data entry, facilitating groups, and supporting the Director of Inside Programs.
Transitional Aged Youth Mentors will support and mentor youth in Central Juvenile Hall. He or she will work with youth to gathering, access, and navigate re-entry resources; create re-entry plans, and transition back into their community. Mentors will play a critical role in the organization, bringing hope and opportunity to the youth, and preparing them for their continued relationship with ARC upon release.
Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship to the youth
- Provide one-on-one support
- Assist the youth with developing re-entry plans.
- Introduce the youth to rehabilitative and reentry services.
- Help the youth access and navigate resources
- Support the youth in their transition back to their community
- At the request of the probation, speak at staff trainings and participate in management meetings to assist, as needed, in improving the culture of juvenile hall.
- Provide and maintain appropriate data and files of participants.
- Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect of cultural differences.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree preferred.
- Driver’s License, personal vehicle.
- Knowledge of Los Angeles Probation rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Data Base management experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Bilingual beneficial.
- Willingness to travel weekly and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Policy and Community Organizing Manager is responsible for assisting the Policy Director in setting ARC’s policy priorities, designing, and implementing advocacy initiatives, and preparing ARC members (formerly incarcerated individuals) to become advocates for reform in the juvenile and criminal justice system, organizing policy trips, supporting communications efforts around ARC campaigns, and conducting research on local and nationwide criminal justice reform efforts. They will work with other organizations supporting the formerly incarcerated to organize and mobilize formerly incarcerated individuals, and their families, around issues of justice reform. The Policy and Community Manager also plays a critical role in the support network for ARC members and their ongoing relationship with the organization's advocacy initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Work with the Policy Director to develop and implement ARC's policy priorities and advocacy campaigns
- Research, develop and write policy briefs, op-eds, and reports
- Monitor ARC advocacy priorities in Sacramento and criminal justice legislation in general
- Develop talking points and other public documents to frame ARC's policy stance
- Co-lead, alongside Policy Manager / Director the training of ARC members in policy advocacy
- Help coordinate the process of having ARC members meet with policymakers, including, but not limited to, booking travel and lodging, and scheduling meetings
- Help coordinate policy trips in Sacramento, D.C., and elsewhere as required
- Contribute to grant proposals and tracking in policy specific areas
- Work on special projects and other tasks as directed by supervisors
- Work with the ARC Communications Director to promote ARC’s policy efforts through various media platforms
- Complete administrative tasks in aid of the Policy Director
- Attend policy meetings around California and the rest of the country
- Assist with note taking and meeting note distribution

POSITION SUMMARY
ARC is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to serve as its Retention Mobility Specialist (RMS). The purpose of this position is to support ARC members in advancing within their careers from entry-level to management positions. The RMS will support ARC members in assessing their own skills as they consider different roles in their workplace and identifying opportunities for upskilling. The RMS will also support ARC members in developing career / workplace maps and strategies for upward mobility so that members have clear paths to improve their professional skills. Lastly, the RMS will work with employers to identify opportunities for ARC to help members achieve upward career mobility and to support members’ success in the workplace. This position reports to the Director of Workforce and Education and is based out of the Los Angeles headquarters and will be a primarily in-person position. This position is not limited henceforth to the duties described below, which are subject to change.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and identify industry-specific skills assessments.
- Support ARC members in identifying their long-term career aspirations.
- Develop and lead workshops on strategies for upward mobility.
- Develop processes for tracking ARC member wage and mobility progress.
- Draft and present reports, including grant reports, as requested, on ARC member career progress.
- Work with employers and other stakeholders to help facilitate career mobility for ARC members.
- Collaborate with and provide recommendations to program staff, administrative staff, and leadership on ways to improve workforce development programs at ARC
- Support the ARC’s Workforce and Development Teams as needed.
- Periodically review and draft reports on obstacles to upward mobility for formerly incarcerated communities.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with government (local, state, federal) contracts and private grants that are related to employment and education.
- Participate in ARC meetings and case conferences sharing best practices and providing thought partnership to colleagues.
- Maintain accurate member/program data to manage caseload and generate reports.
- Document each service, outcome, and new steps as well as any observations of members’ skills, job readiness, and/or other opportunities into a case management database.
- Analyze and report monthly data as required to maintain accurate client and program-based statistics.
- Conduct regular meetings with members to support with achieving employment/education goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in the workforce development.
- Preferred experience with working in the Criminal Justice/Social Justice arena.
- Experience working with employers in creating paths for upward mobility
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Excellent writing skills and communication
- Skill Sets: Highly motivated and able to multi-task. Team spirit, with trust in coworkers. Requires excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to write clear emails/reports. Requires excellent interpersonal and community engagement skills. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office.
