POSITION SUMMARY
ARC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Emerging Adult Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Overnight Advisor to join it’s Magnolia Housing Facility in Koreatown, a 22-bed re-entry program for formerly incarcerated Transitional Age Young men. This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to justice reform and supporting young people to work at a unique program for formerly incarcerated youth. This position will support program participants and monitor the physical plant of the program throughout the evening hours, including holidays and weekends. This position will report directly to the Program Coordinator and works closely with all housing staff onsite. This position will serve as a role model to the members and maintain the highest level of accountability for the members and staff. The Overnight Advisor will proactively communicate to other program staff on an ongoing basis any programmatic or structural situations that may arise during the advisor’s work hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform regular inspection of units and common areas to ensure that all program guidelines are being properly adhered to, including the implementation of quiet hours, asking members to clear all communal spaces if necessary.
- Maintain program curfew log per site specific curfew protocols. Document and report all violations.
- Help ensure resident and staff safety by conducting safety inspections throughout the housing facility, including, the laundry and gym area, making sure that all doors are securely locked throughout the night per safety protocols.
- Communicate violations of guidelines in a timely manner; drug use, altercations, and/or anything that jeopardizes participant or staff safety.
- Maintain facility checklist and track needed repairs by performing scheduled inspections.
- Assist members with immediate needs; grocery shopping, distributing hygiene, toilet paper, etc.
- Remain available to support member needs whenever possible
- Maintain inventory of pantry, cleaning supplies, household supplies and hygiene supplies. Provide list of needed supplies to program coordinator in a timely manner.
- Light repair/maintenance/groundskeeping work onsite. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning, throwing out trash nightly, ensuring kitchen area is free of dirty dishes and clean countertops, restocking all restroom/kitchen paper supplies as needed.– Support members with transportation as needed.
- Support Life Coaches and Program Coordinator in developing and implementing a supportive mentorship program.
- Help ensure participant well-being by overseeing drug testing and connecting members with appropriate rehabilitative services.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have experience with a criminal justice population, observes healthy boundaries and a willingness to work in an environment that seeks to support youth through a positive youth development approach rather than just punitive responses to participant struggles.
The Overnight Advisor will have the following experience and attributes:
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to ARC’s mission.
- Passionate about the ARC mission.
- Previous mentorship experience working as role model, with personal knowledge and experience with formerly incarcerated individuals. Experience with system-impacted young adults is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)
- Computer knowledge/skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
- Ability to problem solve in a restorative justice/supportive capacity and must be able to provide services in a non-punitive manner.
- Must have valid driver’s license and must be insurable to drive company vehicle.
- Proof of Covid vaccination & booster.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SALARY/BENEFITS
- Salary $20-$24.04/hourly rate doe
- 401k with employer match
- ARC pays 75% medical/dental/vision benefits for the individual; individual: 50% for dependents.
- 10 paid vacation days, 6 paid sick days.
